January's manufacturing business activity data pointed to continued expansion in New Orders and Production activity. Domestic orders demand continues to serve as a powerful force in the sector. Supplier delivery readings however remain high despite logistics networks having now moved past the seasonal end-of-year surge in package deliveries. The net result is rising backlogs and material prices for upstream manufacturing products.
